Today every home or business built is centrally heated and air conditioned. That wasn’t the case fifty years ago. Now air conditioning is as important as heat in homes and business. But what is air conditioning? Most people think it is the process of cooling the air inside your home or business. That’s part of it, but air conditioning is more than merely lowering the temperature inside. One of the most important parts of the “conditioning” in air conditioning is lowering the humidity. This can only be accomplished with a properly sized system. If your air conditioner is too large it will not remove the humidity necessary to make the inside comfortable. As a result you will have to set your thermostat at a much lower temperature to be comfortable. This will mean higher utility bills, system short cycling, and possible mold and mildew problems inside.
