Jackson and Son specializes in professional, 100% guaranteed residential and commercial heating and air conditioning installation, maintenance tune-ups and repair services.
The average cost of a gas furnace in the United States is $2,175. This falls within the $700 to $10,000 installation cost range. The cost of a furnace is determined by its type, size, brand, fuel source, efficiency, home size, and labor. Homeowners can select from three types of furnaces: single-stage, two-stage, and modulating. Single-stage furnaces are generally the least expensive, but they are less efficient than the other two types. Because two-stage furnaces can operate at low or high capacity, they are slightly more efficient than single-stage furnaces. Modulating furnaces are costly to buy and install, but they are extremely efficient and ideal for homeowners seeking more controllability over their home's heating.
When your heater isn't generating hot air, you might be dealing with one of the many common furnace problems. Consider the following furnace troubleshooting tips:
- Make sure your thermostat's fan settings are set to "auto" rather than "on."
- Check to make sure no one else has lowered the temperature on your thermostat.
- Replace any dead or damaged batteries in your thermostat by checking the batteries first.
- Clean each part of your furnace, paying close attention to the parts that are more likely to accumulate dust and dirt. By hiring HVAC experts, the system could also be thoroughly cleaned.
- Check to see if the gas valve is open and check to make sure that it is unobstructed.
- Shut the blower motor panel after performing any maintenance or repairs.
You should call a professional to perform maintenance on your home air conditioning system at least once a year, usually in the spring. Your heating system operates similarly. A service appointment once a year in the autumn is always vital, to ensure your system is functioning properly before you get caught without heat in the winter. By scheduling seasonal HVAC maintenance, you can make the most of your time, your money, and the durability and security of your AC system.

I’ve done a lot of hvac jobs and all have been good except one. Gatlin home in New Bern. Getting it to pass code was painful but even worse is not getting a timely resolution to condensation issue on bathroom vent. Been well over a month since homeowner let me know of issue and I let you guys know. All ratings reflect this job only

I had my unit installed July 2018; I have had the service contract also since that time. It has been “serviced” every 6 months since July 2918 but today was the FIRST time I feel like I had a true service!! Ronnie was very thorough & gave me as a customer what I desired & deserved. He found several issues that affected my system & should have been caught in the previous 9 service/maintenance checks. These issues could have been avoided if previous services had been of the caliber I had today. Ronnie was very professional & efficient; would love for him to be the one that comes every time for my 6 month maintenance checks!!!!! I truly feel today was the FIRST time I actually got what I’ve been paying for all these years!!!

Upon arrival tech was informed that system was calling at the thermostat but was not coming on. Tech inspected system and found no line voltage at unit but had line voltage at disconnect. Tech inspected 90amp fuses in disconnect and 60 amp fuses in unit and no fuse was blown. Tech believes issue is at LB electrical box beside unit where it is rusted and falling apart and buried in the ground. Tech was able to get unit back running but informed homeowner that electrician would be needed to make repairs. System is operating at this time.
Derek J.
Upon arrival tech was informed unit was not keeping up with temp while in cooling mode. Tech inspected unit and found it low on Freon. Tech was authorized to do leak search and found leak inside evaporator coil under the house. Field supervisor is coming at 1pm to discuss options.

Tech preformed CMA FULL SERVICE on 1 Split System. System is operating at this time, however compressor did test in caution area of megohm test. Compressor is also making extremely loud buzzing noice. Pressures also indicate system is low on refrigerant. It is a R22 system and 15 years old, due to age and challenges presented to does recommend replacing system. Tech will have office contact customer with solutions. Tech has attached SYSTEM PERFORMANCE REPORTS to invoice along with pictures.

Tech preformed CMA FULL SERVICE on 1 Split System. System is operating at this time but compressor is operating at maximum listed RLA. This indicates Compressor is beginning stages of internal electrical failure. The condenser coil itself is in poor physical condition but no leaks are present at this time. The fins at bottom of coil are gone. Blower motor is in need of blower capacitor before it causes challenges with blower motor. Evaporator coil is rusted but no leaks present at this time. System is 20+ years old with R22 refrigerant, due to current condition and age Tech recommends replacing system. Tech has attached system performance reports to invoice along with pictures

Upon arrival customer stated aux heat was not working with new thermostat. Tech found W wire wired wrong, tech corrected wiring and checked thermostat program. System is now heating properly. No charge.

Upon arrival tech found Nest thermostat reading 83 indoor temp. Actual indoor temp was much less than 83 degrees. Tech removed thermostat display and found it to be warm as well as backplate. Thermostat is receiving 24v. Thermostat is failing, tech installed new customer supplied Nest backplate. Customer stated they would put new display on when it arrives. Tech used downstairs Nest thermostat display per customer request to test upstairs. Tech ran system in heat and cool mode, indoor temp display is now reading correctly. Tech also added insulation to hole in wall behind thermostat backplate. Billing out repair per office.

Michael diagnosed failed EWT thermistor. Corrected pump motor wiring. Pump motor is staying on now and running at 13.2 amps. Drove to Greenville to pick up EWT thermistor. Returned and installed according to instructions. Started up chiller. System is back cooling. Jerrie says they’ve already paid about $5000 of the repairs. Did not send email. Will need to have office double check invoice for work done.

Tech preformed CMA INSPECTION on 4 Split Systems. Kitchen System was installed less than 1 month ago and operating correctly at this time. Resident was concerned about a noice system was making. Tech determined noice was the reversing valve disengaging and releasing pressure. This is normal operation. Master Bedroom System is operating at this time but tech found the air handler has a weak blower capacitor and recommends capacitor be replaced before any further challenges arise with blower motor. Tech has attached estimate for cost of replacing capacitor. Both Upstairs units are operating within specifications at this time. Tech has attached SYSTEM PERFORMANCE REPORTS to invoice a long with pictures

Tech preformed CMA INSPECTION on 6 Split Systems and 1 Mini Split System. Split System #2 is operating at this time but tech did find that the capacitors for the blower and condenser fan are at the minimum tolerance. Tech does recommend replacing both capacitors and has attached estimates to invoice for cost of replacement. Split System #3 and #4 are operating within specifications at this time but tech did find that the primary drain pans for both air handlers do have cracks in the middle allowing condensation and water to leak inside the cabinets causing rust. Tech does recommend replacing primary drain pans for both Systems #3 & #4. Office will have to contact customer with pricing at later date. Split System #5 is operating at this time but tech found that the condenser fan capacitor is weak and recommends replacing it. Tech has attached estimate to invoice for cost of replacement. Split System #6 is operating at this time but tech found that the blower capacitor is at the minimum

Tested the vision pro 8000 thermostat for proper operation, checked the splice under the house and gathered temperature reading at the thermostat and away from the thermostat, indoor temperature is 74 degrees, and thermostat is set to 69 heat. Tested the system 3 times, Tech was not able to duplicate the overheating challenge, but did find the thermostat to be not reading the indoor temperature precisely. Tech suspects potential damaged occurred to the thermostat when the generac was installed, costumer stated the thermostat flickered a couple of times and factory reseted. Tech recommended to replace the thermostat under warranty pricing, verified warranty with our office, and costumer approved repairs. Tested the thermostat, and enabled the AUTO feature as well. Cooling on 74 and heat to 69. No house call fee per Jerry, due to recent visit.

Tech lubricated chiller water pump bearings thoroughly. Motor is still overloaded. Bearings will need to be replaced. Tech let Jerrie know of findings. Jerry says he will check on availability and pricing and email her back.

Tech replaced 2 water diverter valves for #1 and #11. Tech swapped out the old motors due to being 24v motors and not 208v motors, spoke with jerry(office) and is aware of the motors. #1 was left off due to the old motor being bad/seized. Water valve for #11 is operating properly with the new valve and old motor but would still need to get the new 208v motor. Partial standing water on the drain pans due to having some water drain out of the coils during the repairs (vacuumed out as much water as possible from the drain pans.) pictures of the motors are on file.
