Found the auxiliary heat strip sequencer disconnected due to being found stuck on previous history. Tech did find oil residue around the bottom of the condenser near the accumulator, leak repair was performed in June at the service ports. Tech was not able to pin point any leaks at this time. Heat pump is only blowing 86 degree temperature air due to the home being 56 degrees. After replacing the sequencer and connecting it back, the supply temperature increased to 108 degrees. Customer approved today’s repairs and is aware that there could be a small/micro leak at the condenser. System is back heating at this time. Maintenance visit may be due .

Tech found system very low on R410a refrigerant. Tech also found 40/5uf dual capacitor reading very low at 33.8uf. Heat strip sequencer was documented to be stuck closed last time we were here. We replaced evaporator coil in 2023 and compressor in 2021. Reversing valve looks like it has been replaced before as well. Inspected system. Found oily residue on and around suction line king valve. Used ultrasonic detector to confirm king valve is leaking. Swept the other field brazed joints and found none of them leaking. Used soap bubbles and confirmed king valve leaking out of the top threaded cap. Tech tightened cap as tight as possible and soaped again. Did not find any more soap bubbles. Tech found 10uf blower capacitor reading weak at 8.2uf. Tested heat strip sequencer due to recent history of it sticking. It stuck closed on the first call for heat strip. Tapped on sequencer and it opened. Tech unplugged 5kw heat strip until sequencer is replaced. Tech leak searched recently repl

Upon inspection, the compressor was found to be locked up. Despite attempts to free it, the compressor remained unresponsive. Further examination revealed that the dual run capacitor on the hermetic compressor was oversized; the system requires a 45mfd capacitor, but the current one is 55mfd. Additionally, the ductwork appears to be outdated and may not be correctly sized, despite the system being replaced a few years ago. The current system is oversized, leading to short cycling, which can cause significant damage. As a result, the system is currently inoperative. The customer, Mr. John, has requested a quote for a complete system replacement and proper ductwork sizing, as the existing ductwork is still the original. All necessary information was collected over the phone.
