Jackson and Son is a trusted contractor in Greenville, NC for Air Conditioning Services and Heating services. You can trust our technicians to be fully trained and licenced, professional and clean and treat your home and equipment with respect. We specialize in AC Repair, Energy Efficient AC Replacement, Indoor Air Filtration and many other HVAC related services.
A complete HVAC replacement costs between $5,000 and $10,000. The cost of the replacement unit covers installation, removal, and disposal. Your estimate is based on the kind you now have and the size of the system you intend to purchase. It may be less expensive than a completely new installation.
Clogged filters are one of the most typical causes of AC problems. Filters can become clogged by dirt, pet hair, pollen, and dust. When filters get blocked, the movement of air through your AC becomes restricted. As a consequence, your air conditioner does not efficiently chill your interior air. Filters that are clogged can also disrupt the operation of your system's interior evaporator coil and outdoor condenser unit.
The simplest method to avoid problems with clogged filters is to clean them on a regular basis and replace them as needed. We recommend that you replace them every three months. Those who have pets may need to change their filters more frequently.
If your indoor air is clean you should not see any of these three major warning signs.
- Coughing, along with difficulty breathing, are among the most common signs of poor air quality. The concentration of particles in the air may be the source of these respiratory difficulties due to a lack of ventilation. Without sufficient air circulation, fresh oxygen in the room will dwindle.
- Sneezing, along with coughing and breathing problems, is another sign. It may also be accompanied by watery eyes and nose and throat discomfort. These symptoms are also indicators of potential allergic responses.
- Too much dust! Make it a point to keep the dust buildup under control by cleaning on a regular basis. Investing in a basic feather duster and using it a few times each week will help keep dust and debris out of your home's air.

I was evaluating the need for new unit after initially working with another company. I called Jackson and Sons because of the high ratings online. Caleb came out to give me an estimate but recommended an inspection first to determine need. Tyler came out to inspect my system and gave me a detailed honest report. Repaired one unit and recommended replacement of other. Ultimately I purchased one unit from Jackson and Sons and upon recommendation will wait on the other. One of the most important indicators of a good company is how the staff, from office to field technicians and sales reps show up on the job, how they communicate, and the respect and professionalism they show. So far I have worked with several, between inspection, installation and follow up. Based on my interactions throughout the process, I expect that the leaders treat their employees well, support their work, and have created a positive company culture. It seems to have inspired loyalty and alignment with company values and it shows. You can’t pay people to show up like this - it comes from relationships. Happy employees lead to happy customers and I’m one of them!

Had to call first thing on a Monday morning to have someone come check my ac unit as it stopped working suddenly. Tyler was at my front door within an hour and a half and got my unit back working quickly. Very nice person and answered all questions had to where someone who knows nothing about ac units can understand lol. Every tech that has came out has been wonderful and very helpful. Glad I made that choice to go with them for our hvac needs.

Found filter mesh tore up for the economizer. Present filters are dirty, tech took out filters and attempted to clean them out as best as possible and placed them back in the system. Tech closed the economizer and noticed the whistling noise got louder, and as the economizer opened, the noise went away. Tech suspects the noise is coming from the metal return duct, possible broke seal due to the vibration of the system over time. Tech adjusted the economizer set point, just enough to not make the system whistle. If the challenge persist, we may need to return with at least a 12ft ladder to inspect the return duct connections. The whole Metal Mesh filter measures 20x26x1. Tech placed temporary filters until the office can provide a quote for a economizer metal mesh filter. Pictures on file.

Rhanekmartin@gmail.com Found system cooling upon arrival, supply vent temp is 43 degrees both down and upstairs. Pressures within levels. Found aux drain pan full of water which tech suspects that the outdoor unit is triggered on and off at times due to the water level. Talked to the costumer about getting back on ESA due to the cost of drain challenges of today. Costumer invested in PSA yearly for 2 visits. Drain line is cleared and water was vacuumed out of the drain pan. System is cooling as of now. Tech did inform that the drain line set up is not the best, some places has no fall. The system only has 3-6 inches of the attic floor and could potentially have continuous drain challenges. Pictures are on file. If the challenge of having the drain clogged, it may be necessary to cut and run the drain line differently.

Performed ESA, tech found 2 leaks inside evaporator coil. Tech contacted office and field supervisor is on his way to discuss future options with homeowner.

Customer stated system is leaking water on the floor. Tech found that water on the floor is directly underneath supply vent built into ductwork in mechanical room. Based on high humidity in mechanical room tech believe supply vent is condensating. Tech found there is an exhaust fan inside mechanical room that is pulling amps but it’s not pulling any air out. Tech inspected exhaust fan on roof and found there is no belt installed. Tech installed a new belt and tested unit operation and exhaust fan is working properly pulling 6.8 A which is within range. Tech could not find any other mechanical issues resulting in a condensation

Tech performed ESA on 2 systems found no issues at today’s visit, customer was not aware that it was TTE will need to talk to husband and call back. Tech had no 14x14x1 filters will need to stop back by with 2 when in the area.

Found no mechanical challenges at this time, system started up in cooling without challenges, checked delta T (21), airflow settings, filter, and refrigerant levels(picture on file). System is within specs, temperature reached down to 69 throughout the visit. Costumer stated that refrigerant was added recently by another company. Refrigerant leak search may be needed if the refrigerant levels drop. Tech informed the costumer that the refrigerant levels are within range as of now, did recommend to invest into ESA to monitor the system throughout the visits. Ms.bass stated that she has multiple properties and that she will call throughout the week or so to invest into our ESA program. Tech provided the costumer with a ESA form to review. System is cooling as of now.

Tech found the carrier thermostat on upon arrival. Tested float switch, heat, cool, aux heat as well. No possible challenges found at this time, tech suspects the carrier thermostat may not have been in full contact with the back wiring plate. Tech was unable to verify a bad thermostat at this time due to currently operating properly upon arrival. System is cooling and operating properly at this time. No water at the drain pan was found, system if draining properly. Billing out per Jerry.

Customer reported musty smell when cooling was running and also systemic heating when she didn’t want heat. Tech suspects newly installed nest is running undesired schedule. 4 year old split system appears to be operating correctly. Refrigerant pressures and amp draws are in specs. Nest would not bring on outdoor unit in heat mode. Tech performed factory reset and set system back up as a 2 heat 1 coil heat pump. Tested Nest in each mode without challenges after factory reset. Tech sniffed inside air handler, but couldn’t smell any unusual odor. Tech suspects intermittent dirty sock syndrome. Tech recommends ESA preventative maintenance to thoroughly clean indoor coil and drain. Tech recommends plasma wave ionization air cleaner to keep air quality high.

Tech found Airease 2 ton split heat pump upstairs void of R22. Holds about 7 lbs with lineset. Tech also found 40/5uf dual run capacitor reading weak at 2uf on FAN side. Tech found 15uf blower capacitor reading 8% weak. Tech found heat strips not running due to a failed DC relay. Tech would recommend replacing with a contactor. Outdoor coil is completely clogged with dirt. Due to age of system, cost and number of repairs, and EPA phase out of R22, tech recommends system replacement. Caleb is running mandatory.

Tech found fan motor failed. Office told tech that Mike Acree approved fan motor. Tech installed new 1/3 1075 rpm fan motor and also found system low on R22. Brandon in the office approved adding R22. Tech added one pound of R22 to get system cooling. Holds 4 lbs total. Tech recommends system replacement due to epa phase out of R22 and system likely leaking R22. Emailed invoice to Mike.
