Jackson and Son is a trusted contractor in Greenville, NC for Air Conditioning Services and Heating services. You can trust our technicians to be fully trained and licenced, professional and clean and treat your home and equipment with respect. We specialize in AC Repair, Energy Efficient AC Replacement, Indoor Air Filtration and many other HVAC related services.
A complete HVAC replacement costs between $5,000 and $10,000. The cost of the replacement unit covers installation, removal, and disposal. Your estimate is based on the kind you now have and the size of the system you intend to purchase. It may be less expensive than a completely new installation.
Clogged filters are one of the most typical causes of AC problems. Filters can become clogged by dirt, pet hair, pollen, and dust. When filters get blocked, the movement of air through your AC becomes restricted. As a consequence, your air conditioner does not efficiently chill your interior air. Filters that are clogged can also disrupt the operation of your system's interior evaporator coil and outdoor condenser unit.
The simplest method to avoid problems with clogged filters is to clean them on a regular basis and replace them as needed. We recommend that you replace them every three months. Those who have pets may need to change their filters more frequently.
If your indoor air is clean you should not see any of these three major warning signs.
- Coughing, along with difficulty breathing, are among the most common signs of poor air quality. The concentration of particles in the air may be the source of these respiratory difficulties due to a lack of ventilation. Without sufficient air circulation, fresh oxygen in the room will dwindle.
- Sneezing, along with coughing and breathing problems, is another sign. It may also be accompanied by watery eyes and nose and throat discomfort. These symptoms are also indicators of potential allergic responses.
- Too much dust! Make it a point to keep the dust buildup under control by cleaning on a regular basis. Investing in a basic feather duster and using it a few times each week will help keep dust and debris out of your home's air.

I was evaluating the need for new unit after initially working with another company. I called Jackson and Sons because of the high ratings online. Caleb came out to give me an estimate but recommended an inspection first to determine need. Tyler came out to inspect my system and gave me a detailed honest report. Repaired one unit and recommended replacement of other. Ultimately I purchased one unit from Jackson and Sons and upon recommendation will wait on the other. One of the most important indicators of a good company is how the staff, from office to field technicians and sales reps show up on the job, how they communicate, and the respect and professionalism they show. So far I have worked with several, between inspection, installation and follow up. Based on my interactions throughout the process, I expect that the leaders treat their employees well, support their work, and have created a positive company culture. It seems to have inspired loyalty and alignment with company values and it shows. You can’t pay people to show up like this - it comes from relationships. Happy employees lead to happy customers and I’m one of them!

Upon arrival customer stated system continuously ran on a cold night and didn’t shut off until he opened all closed doors inside. Also stated he can feel heavy draft and pressure of air trying to escape from doors. Thermostat and return is located in hallway surrounded by closed doors. There is no gap to floor between closed door and floor. Tech explained that on a cold night system is supplying warm air to rest of the house but none of that warm air is reaching the thermostat. Therefore temp sensor in thermostat is not realizing that the rest of the house is warm even though the hallway is cooler due to being blocked off from rest of the house with no supply vents. Tech recommended leaving doors open or installing vents in doors to help transfer airflow to hallway if doors are kept closed. Also recommended trimming bottoms of doors to increase gap size. This will also help return pull warmer air. Customer agreed. No charge for visit per premium agreement and first year warranty.

Customer stated that he has seen a pressure switch fault on the furnace a few times and once this morning. Customer reset system and found it operating properly. Upon arrival customer stated that system would not run with a call from the thermostat. Customer showed tech location of the condensers and found the downstairs condenser running. Customer stepped back inside and returned stating there was no airflow. Tech accessed the air handler in the crawlspace and found the variable speed blower was not running. Blower motor was tested and found to be faulty. Blower would cycle on and off (hunting) but would not run. System is 16 yrs. of age. Due to age, repair cost and possible future challenges it is recommended for replacement. Call customer 11/30 to set up replacement estimate, before 9:30am or after 11 am.
