The average cost of a gas furnace in the United States is $2,175. This falls within the $700 to $10,000 installation cost range. The cost of a furnace is determined by its type, size, brand, fuel source, efficiency, home size, and labor. Homeowners can select from three types of furnaces: single-stage, two-stage, and modulating. Single-stage furnaces are generally the least expensive, but they are less efficient than the other two types. Because two-stage furnaces can operate at low or high capacity, they are slightly more efficient than single-stage furnaces. Modulating furnaces are costly to buy and install, but they are extremely efficient and ideal for homeowners seeking more controllability over their home's heating.
When your heater isn't generating hot air, you might be dealing with one of the many common furnace problems. Consider the following furnace troubleshooting tips:
- Make sure your thermostat's fan settings are set to "auto" rather than "on."
- Check to make sure no one else has lowered the temperature on your thermostat.
- Replace any dead or damaged batteries in your thermostat by checking the batteries first.
- Clean each part of your furnace, paying close attention to the parts that are more likely to accumulate dust and dirt. By hiring HVAC experts, the system could also be thoroughly cleaned.
- Check to see if the gas valve is open and check to make sure that it is unobstructed.
- Shut the blower motor panel after performing any maintenance or repairs.
You should call a professional to perform maintenance on your home air conditioning system at least once a year, usually in the spring. Your heating system operates similarly. A service appointment once a year in the autumn is always vital, to ensure your system is functioning properly before you get caught without heat in the winter. By scheduling seasonal HVAC maintenance, you can make the most of your time, your money, and the durability and security of your AC system.
